Cloudware Series
White stoneware clay, black slip, and white glaze were used to create this piece, which was then fired to cone 6 in a soda kiln. Hand carving all the clouds and raindrops required considerable effort, but it proved to be a valuable learning experience that I continue to apply in my current work.
Berkshire Amberware
White stoneware clay glazed with Malcom Davis Shino, celadon & semi matte yellow fired to cone10. This work was made at an interesting time in my life where I really dove into trying out different forms, altering the foot of the pot and adding texture, to make the work more interesting to myself as well as the user.
Funky Cold Patina Yunomi
White stoneware clay glazed with Vals Blue Black on the exterior, & Malcom Davis Shino as a liner, fired to cone10. Yunomi is a style of Japanese teacup used for daily tea drinking. It has a long tradition, evolving into a variety of styles and shapes that are usually cylindrical with a trimmed foot. Without a handle, yunomi are ideal for cradling in your hands to savor the warmth and aroma of your drink.
